Shadow Clone

You say your own name and scatter a pinch of ashes from burned clothing you once wore. The ashes float through the air and then form into a shadowy form resembling you, which quickly becomes a perfect imitation of your appearance, form, and other visible traits. You can see through the eyes of your clone and can act through them.

Bonus Action - 30 ft. - 4th Level (Illusion) - VSM - Concentration (10 Minutes)

Summoning Spell

  • You create what an illusory clone of yourself.* Creatures can see ashes transform in the air into the clone, but can't easily tell the difference after it has formed. Touching the clone does not allow creatures to disbelieve it. Even if they disbelieve the illusion, they can interact with the clone and be affected by it.

  • Your clone shares your hit point total. If one of you is damaged, both are damaged. If you are both damaged by the same spell or effect, you roll two saves and take damage once (taking the higher damage total).

  • You and your clone share a turn. You each have your own movement, but you only have one action, bonus action, and reaction collectively. If one of you uses an action, the other cannot. You can use your clone's senses and can speak through your clone.

  • The clone shares your abilities, and statistics, including items. If one of you uses an ability, item, or casts a spell, you expend collectively lose the use, charge, or spell slot as applicable. If the clone drops an item or something they're carrying, the cloned item turns to ash.

  • Your clone does not have a mind of their own, and cannot concentrate on a spell separately from you. If one or both of you are targeted by a mental effect, like or the frightened condition or the Mind Blank spell, both of you are affected as if a single target.

  • Generally, effects that target you or your clone do not affect the other. However, temporary hit points and changes to your hit point total will affect both of you simultaneously.

  • If you lose concentration on this spell or your clone becomes incapacitated, the clone and any duplicated items drop to the ground in a pile of ash.

*Upcasting: Create an additional clone for every two spell levels above 4th.
