Handaxes are balanced for slashing and for throwing. Designed to be wielded with one hand, they are designed for combat, rather than prolonged use as a tool. A magic weapon like this one has a bonus to attack and damage rolls and deals magical bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing damage.
